The team behind Es Currals Alpacas Ibiza & Wishfulfilling Weaving is a small but lovely family. San and her husband Bart are the founders and owners of this unique initiative.
After more than 25 years as nurses and journalists respectively, the couple moved from Belgium to Ibiza at the end of 2018 to fulfill their long-standing dream: their own alpaca farm with weaving studio on the sunny magical island in the Balearic Islands.

They were immediately embraced by the local Ibicenco’s and in search of suitable agricultural land they soon came across Maria, a plucky and always smiling Ibicenca of 81 years who, after a hard life as a farmer’s wife, enjoys together with her cute dog Niko. from her tropical botanical garden on her beautiful, secluded finca. There she and her family had kept livestock and other animals for decades.

Maria absolutely wanted to make Bart and San’s alpaca dream come true on her farm. And her sweet family and dog Niko also liked this!
Out of gratitude and respect for the warm welcome and help of Maria and her fellow farmers from the north of Ibiza, the very first alpac farm in Ibiza was baptized ‘Es Currals’: the local Catalan word for the typical rock-built Ibicenco -animal houses on the old finca farms.
