Dreaming about alpacas & weaving

Family Dream

The team behind Es Currals Alpacas Ibiza & Wishfulfilling Weaving is a small but nice family. The founders and owners of this unique initiative are San and her husband Bart.

The couple moved from Belgium to Ibiza at the end of 2018, after having been active for more than 25 years as a nurse and journalist respectively, to make their dream come true: their own alpaca farm with a weaving studio in the sunny Balearic Islands.

Ibicencos

They were immediately embraced by the local Ibicencos and in search of suitable farmland they soon ended up with Maria, a tough and always smiling Ibicenca of 81 years old. After a tough life as a farmer, Maria now enjoys her tropical garden with her cute dog Niko in her beautiful, remote finca where she and her family had kept cattle and other animals for decades.

Es Currals

Maria saw that Bart and San’s alpaca dream could come true on her farm. And also her dear family and dog Niko were very fond of this!

Out of gratitude and respect for the warm welcome and the help of Maria and her fellow islanders, the very first alpaca farm on Ibiza was christened ‘Es Currals’: the local word for the typical Ibicenco animal enclosures built of rock at the old finca farms.
